"Hello, I am Mary Bowden Evans and in 1996, I was introduced to a sport called Schutzhund. I was looking for a German Shepherd Dog and ended up at a kennel in Middle Tennessee where I purchased a long coated shepherd. The breeders took me to a Schutzhund club. It was the first time I had ever seen this type of dog training. I fell in love with the sport. At the club, people would talk about this lady named Sheri Trudrung. I heard she was a great obedience trainer and coach. I went to meet Sheri and she told me a little about herself and mentioned that she had been on the World Team. I was impressed, but, to be honest, I really didn't know what the world team was. But it sounded great, and I wanted to be great. So I signed up for private lessons. Sheri asked me what my expectations were and I told her I wanted to go the Nationals and compete. (I had never even seen a trial at this point.) I started my lessons and worked hard at home. It was great, I got up EVERY morning and tracked my dog (oh yeah she was my tracking coach also) and then I did obedience everyday. I wanted my dog to be the best, and with Sheri's help we got the best out of him. I will never forget the day that I entered my first trial with Adler. He sailed through the BH routine with ease. He earned his title, and I felt like I had won the Nationals. I was so proud of myself and Adler. On the day he earned his Schutzhund 1, Adler had the highest protection score in the trial. He also had great obedience and tracking scores. THANKS Sheri. I know I wouldn't have gotten that far without your help. Since that time, I have owned many German Shepherd Dogs. My dog Cosmo is 5 times Schutzhund 3, FH 1, and I am living my dream. I have successfully competed in several National events. My newest dog is a full litter mate to Sheri's competition dog Cash. I am very proud because I am the breeder of both dogs. I would like to thank Sheri Trudrung for all the hours she spent with me in the heat of summer or the blistering cold, all the tracks we did in the rain, the late nights of protection work where she would hold my second line. I would like to thank her for all the confidence she always had in me. It always inspired me to do more.
